Rethink. Rebuild. Reinvent.

The mission of the University Park Development Corporation (UPDC) is to partner with the community to improve the quality of life for those who visit, work and live in the University Park area.

UPDC is a community development corporation that has grown from strong community involvement in the University Park area. It all began very simply. Neighbors helping neighbors. For more than a decade, the University Park Neighborhood Association (UPNA) served the neighborhood as a social and networking group. But the UPNA had difficulty accessing the funds it needed to grow. In 2000, they created the UPDC with the goal of expanding funding in order to help reenergize this vital community.

UPDC is a unique collection of grass roots individuals and members of the local business community. Partnering organizations include Summa Health System and The University of Akron. UPDC has received generous funding support from a number of local and regional organizations including the City of Akron, University Park Alliance, Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), the Mary and David C. Corbin Foundation, the Glen and Alice V. Boggess Foundation, the Laura and Lucian Q. Moffitt Foundation and the Akron Community Foundation.
